Advanced redox and separation processes
Advanced Oxidation and Reduction processes (AORP) is needed for degradation of persistent non-biodegradable organics, but also in development of redox flow battery technology. Focus is devoted to electrochemically based methods, photo- and photocatalytic chemistry, and activated peroxygens such as Fenton’s processes and persulphate.
Separation processes is used for removing and concentrating contaminants from water. Focus is currently devoted to membrane filtration and separation. Current major research actions include “Treatment of organic pollutants in landfill leachate by electrochemical oxidation”, “Novel carbon based materials for 3D electrochemical water treatment”, “Reverse and forward osmosis for removal of pesticides in contaminated groundwater using novel polymeric membranes (MEM2BIO)” and “Investigation of electrochemical properties of fungal quinones used in redox flow batteries”.
