Biofilm infections
Biofilm infections
An estimated 60-85% of microbial infections are associated with biofilms, leading to considerable economic implications, incurring costs amounting to billions of euros each year.
The development of biofilms poses significant impediments to contemporary methodologies for sampling, diagnosing, and treating infections.
Our research initiatives are strategically aimed at mitigating these challenges. Additionally, we are engaged in the creation of in vitro preclinical models designed for the assessment of various antimicrobial agents. Our investigative focus extends to elucidating the molecular and biochemical pathways active during infection processes, employing transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to achieve a comprehensive understanding.
